Rhumb line weather forecast prepared by Commanders’ Weather.
Outlook for: Wednesday June 24
Prepared: 0700 eastern time Wednesday June 24
Wednesday:
A ridge of high pressure extends southwest across the Atlantic to southeast
and south of Bermuda. In between this ridge and cold front moving southeast
near Gulf Stream, there will be a favorable southwest wind today. Wind
speeds mainly in the low to middle teens, stronger to northwest, while less
wind speed nearing Bermuda. Satellite imagery shows mainly fair skies with
only few clouds around and don’t see anything significant on radar this
morning. Wind backs some, closer to south during tonight, mainly after
midnight with wind speeds near teen to fifteen knots. Also, watch for a few
showers around later tonight

Outlook for: Monday June 22 to Wednesday June 24
Prepared: 1700 eastern time Monday June 22
Tropical discussion
The tropics remain very quiet, and there are no threats of a tropical
system impacting the race course over the next week.
Monday night:
Between high pressure to the east and low pressure moving off the East
Coast the south southwest breeze will continue to slowly increase. There
can be some widely scattered showers. Sea state remains under five feet.
Tuesday:
The East Coast front will slowly approach from the west while high pressure
remains in place to the east. This will perpetuate increasing south
southwest wind. Morning wind speeds will climb through the teens then they
are more likely to exceed twenty knots at times during the second half of
the day. Winds will increase further near and north of thirty five degrees
north. There will be an increased chance for showers and squalls overnight.
Sea state builds to six to eight feet north of thirty five north while five
feet or less to the south.
Wednesday:
The front will slow down north of thirty five north so twenty five plus
knot winds are most likely up there. South of thirty five north south
southwest winds are more likely to peak around twenty knots. Squalls and
thunderstorms will be an increasing threat near and northwest of thirty
five north and sixty five west. Squalls will be weaker and more widely
scattered south of there. But a stray late-day thunderstorm cannot be ruled
out around Bermuda. Seas around Bermuda will peak just shy of five feet.
Six plus foot seas are more likely to the north.

Outlook for: Monday June 22 to Wednesday June 24
Prepared: 0700 eastern time Monday June 22
Tropical discussion
The tropics remain very quiet, and there are no threats of a tropical
system impacting the race course over the next week. The main feature over
the western Atlantic is the stalled front near Bermuda, and low pressure
east of Newfoundland which will remain non tropical. Any tropical waves in
the Caribbean Sea are moving westward and pose no threat.
Monday:
A stalled frontal boundary near Bermuda will dissipate later today, and
behind it there will be high pressure building in from the west. There will
continue to be light and shifting conditions this morning, then increasing
south to southwest wind during the afternoon. Wind speeds will be less than
ten knots during the morning, but could rise into the teens later in the
afternoon and for the evening. Any lingering showers or squalls near the
front during the morning will clear up for the second half of the day. Sea
state remains under five feet.
Tuesday:
Stronger low pressure and a cold front move east and southeast off the
United States coast, while high pressure expands to the east and south to
southeast of Bermuda. This will lead to an increasing south to south
southwest wind regime. During the morning speeds will mainly be ten to
fifteen knots, but will increase into the twenties at times during the
afternoon and evening in areas along and north of thirty five north. There
will be an increased chance for showers and squalls overnight near the
front. Sea state builds to six to eight feet by north of thirty five north
while five feet or less south of there.
Wednesday:
Low pressure tracks over and east of Nova Scotia, with a slow moving cold
front extending southwest toward or east of Cape Hatteras. In areas over to
the south, southeast and east of Bermuda there will be high pressure
dominating the region. In areas north of thirty five north and close to the
front there will be a shift to southwest winds with speeds in the twenties
along stronger gusts. Moderate scattered showers and thunderstorms will be
present along the front. Wind speeds will remain lighter south of thirty
five to Bermuda, mainly in the teens with direction favoring a southerly
headwind. Conditions remain dry in Bermuda to the south of the front. Sea
state will likely reach eight to ten feet between thirty five and forty
north, but staying closer to five feet around Bermuda.
